Meet Sheryl Campbell

"I empathize with my students through active listening & observing, responding with words of understanding, encouragement and motivation, often citing my own experiences so I remain authentic and relatable. This is so key for any yoga teacher as this is a breathing & healing practice."

I absolutely love what I do because I have seen, firsthand, what yoga has done for me. It has helped me to see myself way beyond a simple yoga pose. It has allowed me to look deeply into myself and “connect some of the dots” in my own life and understand certain patterns I have and why.

My desire is to guide and support adults and children (especially women), using yoga as a tool, to learn deeply about themselves, to become aware of their own behaviors and patterns, and to create a space where they continue to “take up the space they deserve” through self-acceptance and self-compassion, in hopes they will spread this to others.

Leading yoga groups for women is something I'm very compassionate about. Yoga is a path to self-acceptance, from the inside out. Now, more than ever, I believe women are managing unique situations, oftentimes, difficult ones. Women are drawn to and thrive in community spaces to connect and grow as individuals. We are are natural born leaders who deserve to shine, share and “be”, wherever and whenever they desire.

As a self-proclaimed “Women’s Advocate”, I support and volunteer for community nonprofits such as CVAN and Safe Alliance, agencies providing support for women of domestic violence. I participate in several women’s health and wellness movements including Girl Trek, the 40 Plus Double Dutch Club and Black Girls RUN, which all promote health, wellness, self-care, fellowship, and connections among women and their communities. I am working towards leading yoga groups for women who are in remission from Breast Cancer and those who are living with Lupus.

Yoga continues to remind me to have self-compassion and compassion for others. "We each have our own stories that no one else knows"; this is the premise from which I operate and live, accepting people for who they are, practicing the qualities of love and acceptance. Meditating on mantra is a daily practice I love sharing with others.
